SPC Finland works for intermodal transport |
Shortsea Promotion Centre (SPC) Finland is the national centre for the promotion of shortsea shipping and intermodal transport. The aim of SPC Finland is to develop shortsea shipping and intermodal transport. Intermodal transport combines at least two transport modes. SPC Finland supports co-operation between different transport modes: shortsea shipping, rail, road and inland waterways.
SPC Finland is a neutral channel of influence towards decision makers both nationally and internationally. Furthermore, SPC Finland provides up-to-date information on shortsea shipping and intermodal transport. Information is provided especially on EU transport policy. SPC Finland is a member of the European Shortsea Network. The members of the network represent 21 shortsea and intermodal promotion centres in Europe.
SPC Finland's information services are open to all stakeholders in the transport chain. SPC Finland’s main information channels are its website, e-mail newsletters, themed bulletins, leaflets and brochures, articles, seminars and workshops. Identifying solutions for bottlenecks as well as updating the liner service database are two other important roles performed by SPC Finland.
